Bill Belichick again among 5 coaching candidates for Pro Football Hall of Fame

Bill Belichick has been named one of five coaching candidates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2027. Alongside him are Tom Coughlin, Mike Holmgren, Dan Reeves, and Mike Shanahan. The Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, revealed this selection, which was made by the coaching subcommittee from an initial list of 14 nominees. The subcommittee will choose one candidate to be considered by the selection committee in early 2027.

Belichick, a six-time Super Bowl champion, was previously a candidate last year but did not secure induction in his first year of eligibility, a decision that drew significant criticism. His coaching career includes notable achievements with the New England Patriots and the New York Giants, although it has also been marred by controversies such as the 'Spygate' scandal. The final list of candidates will be narrowed down before the Hall of Fame's Class of 2027 is announced during the 'NFL Honors' event in Los Angeles next February.
