Swanwick surges to Asia-Pacific lead after defending champ Laopakdee fades
Zack Swanwick of New Zealand has taken the lead in the Asia-Pacific Amateur after a strong performance on Saturday, finishing with a 4-under 67. This puts him two shots ahead going into the final round, with the winner earning spots in both the Masters and British Open. Swanwick's round included a key birdie on the 18th hole, allowing him to reach a total of 7-under 206.
Defending champion Fifa Laopakdee from Thailand struggled during the round, losing a two-shot lead on the back nine and finishing with a 73. His performance faltered after missing a crucial par putt on the 12th hole, followed by a bogey on the 14th. Cooper Moore also remains in contention, finishing two shots behind Swanwick after a solid round. Kaito Sato of Japan is the only other player under par, sitting at 3-under 210. Swanwick's recent form has improved significantly since the beginning of the tournament, showcasing his growing confidence on the course.
