Rangers put goalie James Reimer on waivers after just one start
The New York Rangers have placed goalie James Reimer on waivers after a brief stint with the team that included just one start. Reimer's only appearance lasted one period, during which he allowed three goals on eight shots in a game against Los Angeles on October 26. If he is not claimed by another NHL team, he may be sent to the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL.
Reimer was signed by the Rangers to provide support for Dylan Garand, who has been the primary goaltender since Igor Shesterkin was sidelined for the season due to a knee injury. However, Reimer's performance did not meet expectations, leading to Garand playing in 11 consecutive games. Meanwhile, Joonas Korpisalo, who was acquired to back up Shesterkin, is close to returning from a lower-body injury after a successful rehab start in the AHL. Korpisalo's injury earlier in the season initiated the current goaltending situation for the Rangers.
