Orioles decline OF Luis Robert's $20M club option for 2027

The Baltimore Orioles have opted not to exercise outfielder Luis Robert Jr.'s $20 million club option for the 2027 season. Robert was claimed off waivers from the New York Mets at the end of August, which included taking on approximately $4.9 million of his salary, along with a $2 million buyout for the option.

Robert's time with the Orioles was brief, as he played only three games before being placed on the injured list due to hamstring problems. His performance this season has been below expectations, as he has struggled to replicate the level of play that earned him an All-Star selection in 2023. In 61 games this year, he recorded a batting average of .221, along with 11 home runs and 26 RBIs. Additionally, the Orioles announced that several players, including right-hander Albert Suarez and infielder Jose Barrero, have cleared waivers and chosen free agency, while right-hander Codi Heuer and Colin Selby have been assigned to Triple-A Norfolk.
