Novak Djokovic loses to Jan-Lennard Struff at Swiss Indoors
Novak Djokovic was eliminated from the Swiss Indoors after a hard-fought match against Jan-Lennard Struff, losing 6-7 (4), 7-5, 7-6 (5). This defeat means Djokovic will not be able to match Roger Federer's record of 103 career titles at this tournament, which is held in Federer's hometown of Basel. Struff secured the victory with his third match point after hitting an ace that Djokovic could not return.
In another surprising result, Ben Shelton, the top seed, was defeated by Swiss wild card Jerome Kym, who is ranked 222nd. Shelton, who reached the US Open final, has now lost three times this season to players ranked outside the top 100. Kym will advance to face Jiri Lehecka in the next round, while second-seeded Arthur Fils will take on Taylor Fritz after both secured their places in the quarterfinals.
