Messi eligible for crunch Miami game with Revs despite yellow card haul

Lionel Messi will be available for Inter Miami CF's upcoming match against the New England Revolution despite receiving his fifth yellow card of the season. This yellow card was issued during the team's recent 2-2 draw with FC Cincinnati. Although Messi's accumulation of yellow cards has reached five, MLS rules allow for a reduction in the total if a player goes five consecutive matches without receiving a card, which Messi achieved.

Inter Miami's head coach emphasized the urgency of the situation as the team aims for Concacaf Champions Cup qualification. He noted that the team can no longer afford to drop points and must play with confidence and boldness. Currently, Inter Miami is positioned third in the Eastern Conference, trailing the Revolution by just two points. Both teams have already secured playoff spots, but the outcome of their match will significantly impact Miami's chances for next season's Champions Cup.
