Messi brings Miami back to stun Revs, clinch Champions Cup spot

Inter Miami CF secured a crucial 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution, ensuring their place in the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup. The win allowed Miami to move ahead of the Revolution into second place in the Eastern Conference with one match left in the MLS regular season.

The match began with a scoreless first half, despite the Revolution generating more chances. Dániel Gazdag opened the scoring for New England shortly after halftime, but Miami quickly equalized with a goal from Germán Berterame, assisted by Lionel Messi. Messi then scored the decisive goal with a powerful shot from outside the box. Although the Revolution nearly equalized late in the game, an own goal was ruled offside, preserving Miami's lead. This victory not only clinched their Champions Cup spot but also set the stage for their final regular-season match against Charlotte FC.
