Mariners introduce first-time manager Jason Kanzler

Jason Kanzler has been named the new manager of the Seattle Mariners, marking a significant step in his unconventional career path. Before entering baseball management, Kanzler considered a medical career but ultimately became a standout walk-on player in college. After a brief playing career in the minor leagues, he transitioned to teaching high school physics and chemistry, which he found rewarding and influential in his coaching approach.

Kanzler's appointment comes after a thorough selection process led by Seattle's general manager, who highlighted Kanzler's engaging personality and strong background in player development and analytics. This is the third managerial hire by the Mariners' president of baseball operations, who has emphasized a collaborative approach in the hiring process. Kanzler, who has previously worked with the Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros, expressed enthusiasm for leading a talented young team and aims to harness both data and player intuition in his management style.
