How Kimi Antonelli can win F1 title at Mexico City GP -- or why he may already be champion

Kimi Antonelli is on the verge of securing his first Formula 1 world title after increasing his championship lead at the United States Grand Prix. The 20-year-old driver now holds a significant 123-point advantage over his closest competitors, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, with a maximum of 125 points still available in the season. His performance in Austin has positioned him favorably for a potential championship win at the upcoming Mexico City Grand Prix.

To clinch the title in Mexico, Antonelli needs to finish at least ninth, regardless of the outcomes for Russell and Hamilton. If Hamilton wins the race, a tenth-place finish would still suffice for Antonelli to secure the championship. Additionally, if neither Russell nor Hamilton wins, Antonelli will be crowned champion no matter his finishing position. If the season is shortened due to potential cancellations of the Qatar and Abu Dhabi races, Antonelli would already be the champion based on his current points tally.
