F1 2027 driver lineups: Who has a seat - and who's out of contract?
The upcoming 2027 Formula 1 season is shaping up to be a time of significant changes, as many drivers are either locked into contracts or facing uncertain futures. Following the 2026 rule changes, most drivers opted for short-term agreements, leaving numerous seats available for the next season. Currently, only a select few drivers have secured long-term contracts, indicating a highly competitive driver market ahead.
Among the confirmed drivers, Lando Norris has extended his contract with McLaren until at least 2030, while Charles Leclerc is expected to remain with Ferrari until 2028. Lewis Hamilton has a contract with Ferrari through 2027, despite ongoing retirement speculation. Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar are both set to stay with Red Bull until 2030 and 2027, respectively. Other teams like Alpine and Williams have also made moves, with Pierre Gasly locked in until 2028 and Carlos Sainz securing a multi-year deal beyond 2026. Meanwhile, several drivers, including those at Aston Martin and Racing Bulls, have uncertain futures as they await decisions on their contracts for 2027.
