Declan Rice tops Premier League assist chart - without set-pieces

Declan Rice has ascended to the top of the Premier League assist leaderboard after providing the assist for Arsenal's winning goal against Liverpool. The victory marked Arsenal's first win at Anfield in 14 years, with Kai Havertz scoring from a low cross delivered by Rice. Currently, Rice has recorded five assists in nine league matches, placing him ahead of Pascal Gross and Evanilson, who each have four.

Despite Arsenal's strong reputation for set-piece effectiveness in recent seasons, all of Rice's assists this season have come from open play. The team has struggled to replicate their previous set-piece success, which was highlighted by their first goal from a set-piece this season occurring only recently. Head coach Mikel Arteta acknowledged the team's disappointment regarding their set-piece performance and emphasized their commitment to improving in all aspects of play. Arsenal's next matches include a Champions League encounter with Slavia Prague and a home game against Hull City.
