Clint Hurdle bids farewell to Rockies after 20-plus seasons

Clint Hurdle has officially said goodbye to the Colorado Rockies after more than 20 years with the organization. He expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had to coach and manage the team, as well as for mentoring young players in his recent role as a special assistant to the general manager.

Hurdle's long tenure with the Rockies began in the mid-1990s, where he served as a minor league hitting coach before becoming the big league hitting coach. He took over as manager in 2002 and led the team to its only National League pennant in 2007. Although he was dismissed in 2009, Hurdle returned to the Rockies' front office in late 2021 and took on additional responsibilities as a hitting instructor in 2025. He clarified that he is not retiring but is instead reevaluating his career path.
