Chris Kirk leads PGA Tour's World Wide Technology Championship after 63
Chris Kirk took the lead at the World Wide Technology Championship in Los Cabos, Mexico, after an impressive opening round of 9-under 63. His performance placed him one shot ahead of competitors Nick Dunlap and Zac Blair at the El Cardonal course, designed by Tiger Woods. Kirk, currently ranked No. 110 in the FedEx Cup Fall standings, is aiming to break into the top 100 to secure his full card for the 2027 season with only three tournaments left.
Kirk's round was characterized by consistent play, as he hit all but one of the fairways and putted for birdie on every hole except the second. He noted that his approach was to focus on each day and shot without worrying about the overall points standings. Despite a few minor mishaps during his round, including a challenging putt on the 16th hole that he managed to convert into a birdie, Kirk expressed satisfaction with his performance. The day saw favorable scoring conditions, with many players in the field also posting low scores.
