Chandler Blanchet rides pair of eagles to lead in Bermuda

Chandler Blanchet took the lead after the first round of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, posting a score of 9-under 62, which marked his best performance of the year. He achieved this feat by making two eagles, one from 50 feet and another from 5 feet, along with six birdies. Blanchet's only blemish came on the par-4 fourth hole, where he missed the green. He ended the day with a one-shot advantage over four players, including Ben Kohles and Corey Conners.

The weather conditions varied throughout the day, shifting from gusty winds to calm periods, which contributed to the overall scoring. Blanchet noted that the wind calmed down as he played the par-5 seventh hole, allowing him to capitalize on the favorable conditions. Meanwhile, Kohles, who is looking to secure his PGA Tour card, made six consecutive birdies, enhancing his confidence as he aims for a strong finish in the fall season. Other notable players, Mackenzie Hughes and Emiliano Grillo, finished two shots behind Blanchet, both shooting 64.
