Bednar, Suzuki, Arozarena among eight to get qualifying offers

Eight players, including David Bednar of the Yankees, Seiya Suzuki of the Cubs, and Randy Arozarena of the Mariners, received qualifying offers worth $23.15 million from their respective teams. Other players who received these offers include Jake Bauers, Trevor Rogers, Ryan Jeffers, Brandon Lowe, and Adrian Morejon. Players have until November 17 to accept the offers, which are based on the average salaries of the top 125 major league contracts this year.

The qualifying offer system, in place since 2012, allows teams to receive draft pick compensation if a player signs with another team after receiving an offer. Notably, Alec Bohm of the Phillies did not receive a qualifying offer, and the total number of free agents has risen to 183 as 28 more players became free agents. Additionally, several teams made decisions regarding player options, with Baltimore declining options on Ryan Mountcastle and Dietrich Enns, while others like Corbin Burnes and Jose Berrios opted to remain under their existing contracts.
