Alexander Zverev's first No. 1 ranking to be confirmed Monday with win in Vienna

Alexander Zverev is set to officially become the No. 1 men's tennis player when the ATP rankings are released on Monday. His advancement to the quarterfinals of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna confirmed this milestone, as he secured a victory over Tallon Griekspoor with a score of 6-4, 7-5.

This achievement marks a significant moment for Zverev, who expressed that reaching the top ranking feels different from winning tournaments. He will replace Jannik Sinner, who had to end his season due to a knee injury. Zverev will be the 30th player to hold the No. 1 spot and the oldest first-timer since John Newcombe in 1974.
