2026 MLB offseason manager changes: Tracking hirings, firings

The Seattle Mariners have announced the hiring of Jason Kanzler as their new manager for the upcoming season, marking the first managerial change of the 2026-27 MLB offseason. Kanzler, who previously served as the director of player development for the Chicago Cubs, will take over from Dan Wilson, who confirmed he would not return after a challenging season.

Wilson's tenure as manager ended following a disappointing 2026 campaign, where the Mariners struggled significantly despite entering the season with high expectations. The team faced difficulties early on and was unable to maintain a winning record. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Angels have also made a managerial change, parting ways with Kurt Suzuki after just one year at the helm, following a historically poor season for the franchise.
